Zombies in period films?

Page Street Studios — Mon, 04/14/2008 - 06:07
Obviously vampires work (and often work better) in period films, but what about zombies? The living dead seem to mostly be a "present day" horror. I've seen a few Nazi Zombie films but they mostly dealt with zombies left over from the war.
At one point Max (Zombie Survival Guide) Brooks was planning to shoot some faked footage of zombies attacking a village during the Russian revolution, but this was just to go with his book tour. I'm not sure if that ever panned out or not.
So, any thoughts?

Keep me posted about the

Edward Martin III — Wed, 05/28/2008 - 09:19If it gets closer to happening, I'll definitely post something here.
I just finished another short (workshop) movie called "Cult of the Giant Brain," but of course, there aren't too many "Giant Brain" film festivals, so...
Why not?
Festival Director — Mon, 04/14/2008 - 15:24I think that it could be fantastic. Think about it... perhaps no guns, no cars, you have to escape on foot or by horse. Your long sward and bow & arrow are your best friends... arrow in the head might not even stop them.
I can see an isolated village during the plague fighting off the undead.
Lets make it!
Lest I be mistaken for a layabout...
Edward Martin III — Fri, 04/18/2008 - 12:17...during lunch today, I sketched up a story idea.
It's a short piece, only about ten minutes or so, but it definitely qualifies as a period piece. Heh.
And REALLY fast-paced.
It'll be fun to write, and it'll be fun to shoot, and a lot more affordable than you think (because I write for low budgets). I want to be just-the-writer for this one, though.
You game?
Worked out a few more kinks

Way fun.
I can't BELIEVE I'm thinking about more zombie movie stuff...
On the plus side, no one's ever done this sort of movie before.
Who wants to make it? 8D

Not in script form yet -- just a few handwritten pages of notes.

Hmmm, yummy...
Well, so far, what's sketched out is a short piece, very violent and primitive, and just happens to also offer a very clever trick to allow for a sequel to a certain low-budget locally-produced zombie action film...
a period zombie movie?!
Edward Martin III — Thu, 04/17/2008 - 21:32Need a script? I'm game.
Count me in!
