Dead Resin
Olives, Rae and Nick are three students that barricade themselves in a small house during a zombie outbreak. Their hopes are high and wait for help to arrive. After several close calls and violent experiences, they enter a state of denial and apathy as they turn to drugs to escape their harsh reality. After weeks of no power, no water and no signs of salvation, the conflict turns indoors.
Director's Notes
As a sound designer, I've experienced many occasions where the audio was merely dropped in as an afterthought. Thus, leaving no depth or added potential to the picture. In return we've devised a film where the story and visuals revolve around the soundtrack. We've spent alot of time adding the small details to create a solid atmosphere.
With youtube and google video exploding the last couple years we figured that shooting this film POV style will help the viewers relate to the content. Using a microscopic budget of $1000, we placed most of our efforts in months of planning before the 4 day shoot (many trips to the city dump). And another many months in post production for the audio replacement.
After a hearty 2 years we finally finished during the summer of 2007!

home video movies...
jujubee — Thu, 04/17/2008 - 09:59I saw this in michigan last year (thriller! chiller! fest), then hollywood suddenly exploded with like a billion home vid style movies :(.
Yeah, kinda the same here. I
Edward Martin III — Mon, 05/12/2008 - 13:50Yeah, kinda the same here. I kept thinking "Oh Zombiefield, but with stoners."
It sounded good, but I couldn't get a hook into the characters.
Unlikeable Characters...
Festival Director — Mon, 05/12/2008 - 20:52I showed this film because it was interesting in the sense of here you have a houseful of slackers and a horrible threat outside and instead of making plans to take over the neighborhood Costco they turn inward and take drugs. The theme being they are for all practical purposes dead already. Shit I would be planning how I was going to escape that death trap and how to dispatch as many Zombies as I could before I had to dispatch myself. Moral of the story don't have shitty roommates because on Z-Day you will be shit out of luck.
Yeah, I can see that, and I'm
Edward Martin III — Tue, 05/13/2008 - 15:13Yeah, I can see that, and I'm glad the filmmakers took a different track, and played it straight.
